It was a back and forth battle on Monday, but the Islanders skated away victorious in the shootout 4 - 3.
The Islanders got on the board first scoring twice through a period and a quarter, but Julian Perino, skating on the Elite squad, struck first when he was able to drag it away from the board and cross ice to between the faceoff dots and was able to put the puck top shelf far corner to make it 2 - 1. Paud O'Brien and Dominick Balboni were credited with the assists.
Sean Ferus was able to tip the puck in, unbeknownst to the remainder of the players on the ice to bring the Pics within one. Aaron Champagne and Brigham Dubey were credited with the assists.
Perino was able to tie the game up when he grabbed the puck and brought it down the near edge and banged it in off the pipe. Sean Ferus and Dominick Balboni were credited with the assists.
The Pics were able to score once in the shootout, but the Islanders scored twice ending the come back attempt by the Pics.
It was a comeback for the Bruins that dealt a heartbreaking loss for the Pics.
Aaron Champagne opened up the scoring with just over 6 minutes remaining in the first. Dylan Taylor and Simon Banas were credited with the assists. Dominick Balboni opened up the scoring early in the 2nd period, as Aiden Grabowski and Eli Boyle got the assists. Zach Shupe got a goal a minute later as Bryce St. Martin and Sean Ferus got the assists. Cole Growhoski capitalized on an attempted under a minute later. Aaron Champagne and James Lynch got the assists. The Bruins scored a goal a minute later. Sean Ferus scored a goal half way through the second as Liam Andersen and Alex Speckhart were credited with the assists. Paud O'Brien got the final goal in the 3rd period for the Pics as Matt Kennedy and Dominick Balboni were credited with the assists. The Bandits then scored 6 unanswered goals for the win.
The Pics made short work of the Kings on Friday, defeating them 5 - 1.
Matthew Tullo notched the first of this two goals just under 14 minutes into the game when he got the pass from Oliver Cookson, and one timed it past Mason Joseph. Andrii Levtuhov was credited with the secondary assist.
Matthew Tullo made it 2 - 0 when he went bar-down on Mason Joseph while on the power-play. Andrii Levthukov and Oliver Cookson were credited with the assists.
Nico Rodrigues was able to make it 3 - 0 when he got the redirect past Scott Barnikow. Brock Baumann and Ryan Moorhouse were credited with the assists.
Kings goaltender Joseph was shown the door in the waining minutes of the 2nd period, when he threw a punch at a Pics attacker, but was caught by a linesmen who referred the penalty to the referee who issued the game disqualification.
The Kings did spoil the shutout bid in the beginning of the 3rd period when Mike Macchioni was able to deposit the puck in the back of the net. Brock Baumann netted his first goal as a Pics player this season when he was crashing down the wing and beat Barnikow glove side. Cookson and Tullo were credited with the assists.
Xavier Erickson was able to make it 5 - 1 when he got the give and go pass from Nicholas Lopes and got Barnikow going the othrer way. Matthew Kowal was credited with the secondary assist.
Matthew Jonas stopped 28 out of 29 shots for the win, and the Kings stopped a combined 47 shots for the loss.
The Pics fell 5 - 4 in overtime, after a combined 97 shot affair.
The Pics struck first early in the 1st period when Cole Growhoski swiped the pass from JJ Diaz and made the twine bulge. Liam Andersen and Dylan Taylor were credited with the assists.
The Bandits then put up four unanswered goals combined over the remainder of the 1st and the entire second period.
Paud O'Brien made it 4 - 2 midway through the 3rd period when he teed up for the slapshot goal and it deflected off a Bandit player and into the net. Seth Chernik and Felix Appelt were credited with the assists.
Seth Chernik was able to capitalize on the power play when he set up on the far post and was able to put away a rebound opportunity to make it 4 - 3 just a minute later. Aaron Champagne and Zach Shupe were credited with assists.
With just over 7 minutes remaining, Sean Ferus was able to put a lofting goal which popped the water bottle. Eli Boyle and Felix Appelt were credited with assists.
The Pics were unable to finish the comeback in overtime, falling to the Bandits 5 - 4.
The Pics defeated the Kings 3 - 2 on Wednesday afternoon, with Wyatt Friedlander stopping 22 out of 24 shots.
Matthew Tullo got the Pics on the board first at nearly 5 minutes into the 1st period when he was sitting in the slot, and got the pass from behind the goal from Oliver Cookson and one timed it into the back of the net. Cam Gaylor was credited with the secondary assist.
Joe Bouchard was able to join snipe-city when he got the pass from Cookson and held on to it enough time to set up the slapshot from near the blue line. Tullo was credited with the assist.
Chase Reynolds was able to put his name in the scorebook when he was also able to get a shot from near the blueline when Stacey was able to dish the pass off to him after shaking a couple defenders. Julian Perino was credited with the assist.
The Kings put two more goals on the board, but couldn't get a goal in with the extra attacker as their goaltender was pulled in the waining moments of the game.
Friedlander was able to stop 22 out of 24 shots for the win, while Scott Barnikow stopped 25 out of 28 for the loss.
The Elite squad fell to the Islanders 4 - 3 in overtime on Monday, despite the Pics having a depleted bench.
Adam Mazurowski got the Islanders on the board first in the opening minutes of the 1st period when he got one past Woodruff. Conner Dalton and Jermey Olsen got the assists. Woodruff settled down very quickly after that quick goal, stopping 41 shots in 2 periods. Nathan Brown got his first goal on the Elite squad just 3 minutes into the 2nd period, when he banged in the loose puck after Hunter Dodds and Bryce St. Martin broke down the rink and it rebounded off Islanders goaltender Christian Vail.
Dom Balboni was able to contribute two goals in the 2nd period, both on the powerplay.
His first goal happened just two minutes after Brown's goal. Balboni was able to go to snipe-city on the 5 on 3 powerplay. When he got the set-up pass from Paud O'Brien and was able to go bar down on Vail. Bryce St Martin got the secondary assist.
It was the Dom and Paud show just a minute later on the 5 on 4 power play when Paud brought the puck around the back of the net and found Dom set up for the one-time shot from just a few feet away from his previous goal. Sean Ferus was credited with the secondary assist.
The Islanders then got two goals in the 3rd period, one from Dean Pevey and the other from Corey McNally.
Layne Brubaker-Egner got the winning goal just 32 seconds into overtime, with assists from Corey McNally and Adam Mazurowski. Christian Vail stopped 36 out of 39 shot for the win, while Garret Woodruff stopped an jaw dropping 61 out of 65 shots in the loss.
The Premier squad skated away to victory in a points filled game 6 - 4 on Monday afternoon.
The Bandits scored less than a minute into regulation when Jace Rearic put one behind Wyatt Friedlander, but the Pics were able to quickly bounce back when Chase Reynolds was able to put the puck in the back of the net off a quick pass from Matthew Kowal after Kowal was able to bother and steal the puck away from an Bandits player. A Bandits player dislodged the net, but the play was allowed to continue and the puck ended up in the back of the net. The goal counted much to the protest of the Bandits bench. Kyle Nelson was credited with the assist.
The Bandits bounced back just two minutes later to make it 2 - 1 when Blake Bracco was able to put one by Friedlander. The Pics then stuck back with four unanswered goals.
Julian Perino was able to help knock the puck in through the slot as Kowal drove down the ice and made a shot attempt, but it deflected and Perino was able to put it on in on the reattempt. Chase Reynolds was credited with the assist.
Just past the halfway point in the game, Perino was able to pick up a loose puck and bring it down the far side wing and put it top shelf against the goaltender Kausch. Reynolds and Kowal were credited with the assists.
Just a minute and a half remaining in the 2nd period, O'Brien was able to put the finishing touches on a give and shoot pass in front of the net when he got a pass from Matthew Tullo. Owen Stacey got the secondary assist.
Chase Reynolds was then able to get a break away short handed opportunity, and he converted on it to put the nail in the coffin for the Bandits.
The Bandits scored twice, with Rearic notching a hat trick to put the Bandits down by one, but Owen Stacey got the empty net goal from 200 feet away to make the final score 6 - 4.
Wyatt Friedland stopped 36 out of 40 shots for the win, while Konrad Kausch stopped 21 out of 26 shots in the loss.
The Elite squad bounce back from being down 2 - 1 against a strong IHC squad to win 3 - 2.
Zach Shupe got the Pics on the board first when he received a cross ice pass from Simon Banas, which caused a dual with the goaltender, in which he was victorious. Aiden Grabowski was credited with the secondary assist. The Islanders were able to put two goals on the board which was the score until the waining minutes of the 2nd period when Paud O'Brien was able to drill a shot past the Islanders goaltender to tie it up at 2 a piece. Dominic Balboni and Mike Dyer were credited with the assists. Balboni got another game-winning goal when he was able to split the defense and drove down the ice when he got a pass from Mike Penna. Cody Samson got the other assist. Sam Zavelson stopped 49 out of 51 shots for the win, and Islanders goaltender Austin GIlbert stopped 19 out of 22 shots for the loss.
Wyatt Friedland stopped all but one shot, and Nico Rodrigues and Julian Perino each scored bringing the Pics a come from behind victory on Saturday afternoon.
Neither team scored in the 1st period, but each team had their share of scoring chances, but the Islanders stuck first in the 2nd period with a goal from Brady Carpenter. Cam Lawhorne was credited with the assist. Nico Rodrigues scored first for the Pics, as he paid penance for an earlier penalty when he went stick side against Islanders goaltender Dylan Emery. He received the pass from Owen Stacy who was able to get the puck past a diving defender who attempted to shut down the passing lane. Ryan Moorhouse was credited with the secondary assist. Julian Perino got the game winning goal with a little over 5 minutes to go in regulation when he was able to put the puck between the legs of Emery after himself and Reynolds were able to beat a two-on-three defensive situation. Matt Pelletier was credited with the secondary assist. Pics goaltender was able to stop 41 out of 42 shots, while Islanders goaltender Emery was able to stop 50 out of 52 shots. |
