The Pics scored 7 times to defeat the Bandits 7 - 5 on Sunday (1/23). Simon Higgins was able to make it 1 - 0 after getting the puck in the back of the net off a pop up shot that deflected up and went into the back of the net. Brigham Dubey and Parker Donahue were credited with the assists.
Brandon Shuman got in the first of three goals he scored in the game just a few minutes later when Martin Rudolf got the pass off to Shuman who was breaking down the opposite side. Simon Higgins was credited with the secondary assist.
Shuman got his 2nd goal of the game with a give and go pass series from Bryce St. Martin and Andrej Vojtech. St. Martin served as the decoy in the end of the series.
Andrej Vojtech netted his first goal as a Pic when he got the rebound from a Liam Andersen shot. Sean Ferus got the assist.
Kevin Avery made it 4 - 0 with a soft shot through traffic. Nick Disanti and Chris Foster got the assists.
Shuman got his hat trick when he was able to get the shot off from the blue line right next to the Pics bench. Chris Foster and Nick Disanti were credited with the assists.
Chris Foster made it 7-5 when be brought the puck down the wing on the near side and dragged the puck up and ovet the goaltender. Nick Disanti and Brandon Shuman were credited with the assists.
Jack Messing stopped 30 out of 35 shots in the win.
Three special teams' goals helped seal the deal on the Pics victory on Sunday afternoon (1/23) against the Advantage.
Luc Fricchione got his first goal of the season and started off the scoring fest just a minute into the game while the Pics were on an early power play. Fricchione got the pass from Brock Baumann and spun around and put the puck in mid-glove side. Joe Bouchard got the secondary assist.
Sean Donoghue made it 2 - 0 while the Pics were on the penalty kill. Donoghue was able to get the puck off a turnover and brought the puck in himself and beat the goaltender low stick side on a soft shot. Tyler Wilson and Joe Bouchard got the assists.
Alexei Filimonov made it 3 - 0 when he got the pass off the board and went in one on one against the goaltender. Filimonov went cross side and put in a backhand shot attempt. Aaron Cholewa and Connor O'Brien got the assists.
Donoghue was able to convert on a penalty shot attempt to make it 4 - 0.
The Advantage were able to get two on the board, but the Pics struck back and got two of their own in a row.
Tyler Wilson made it 5 - 2 with a near goal line shot. O'Brien and Andrii Ievtukhov both got credited with assists.
Corey McNally got the redirect shot right in the slot to make it 6 - 2. Joe Bouchard and Dominick Balboni were both credited with the assists.
Ben Zaranek stopped 22 out of 24 shots for the win.
The Pics and the Cyclones battled back and forth on Saturday night, but it was the Cyclones who skated away victoriously after two power play goals in the 2nd period that swung momentum their way.
The Cyclones scored twice early in the 1st period, but Brock Baumann was able to knock in the power play goal in the waning seconds of the 1st period after a tic-tac-toe pass from Dominick Balboni. Joe Bouchard was credited with the secondary assist.
Sean Roach was able to tie up the game right off an offense zone draw with a snipe from the blue line. Alexei Filimonov and Carter Brunelle were credited with the assists.
The Cyclones tacked two more on to make it 4 - 2, but Tyler Wilson scored on the breakaway opportunity. Sean Donoghue and Balboni were credited with the assists.
Jacob Brown stopped 35 out of 41 shots in the loss.
The Cyclones had four early goals, three in the first period to set the tone early and skated away with the victory on Saturday afternoon.
Simon Higgins took away the shutout from the Cyclones early in the 3rd period on the shorthand when Matus Vojtech was able to poke the puck free from a Cyclones defender, and Higgins was able to one time it past the Cyclones goaltender to spoil the shutout. Nick Zanin was credited with the secondary assist.
Brigham Dubey cut the score in half just ten minutes later while going after the loose puck and was able to put it across the goal line. Vojtech and Chris Foster were credited with the assists.
Noah Behrens-Gould stopped 35 shots in the loss
The Islanders stuck first early in the 1st and kept on rolling defeating the Pics 4 - 2 on Monday afternoon.
Thomas Malatinec and Matus Vojtech scored the Pics only goals late in the 3rd period. Jack Messing The Elite squad was looking to avenge their tough outing at the Showcase, and they were successful against the Islanders, as they defeated them 3 – 0 in front of the friendly crowd at the Olympia.
Nick Disanti capitalized at the 8:18 mark in the 1st period off while on the powerplay when he caused a deflection from a shot from Kevin Avery to make it 1 – 0. Chris Foster was credited with the secondary assist. Disanti made it 2 – 0 when he was able to put the puck in through traffic from the blue line. Andrej Vojtech and Brandon Shuman were credited with the assists. Chris Foster made it 3 – 0 when he put in the classic wrap-around on the far post. Tyler Genovese and Disanti were credited with the assists. Noah Behrens-Gould stopped all 39 shots he faced. The Premier squad was trying to get back to their winning ways against the Islanders but was unsuccessful as the Islanders defeated the Pics 3 – 1 on Saturday night.
Trystan Swiger scored early in the 1st period while on the penalty kill, but the Pics returned the favor late in the first period when Tyler Wilson was able to push the puck through the slot after a series of rebounds. Connor O'Brien and Brock Baumann were credited with the assists. The Islanders scored two more times, once in the 2nd, and another late in the 3rd when the Pics pulled the goaltender for the extra attacker. Ben Zaranek stopped 37 shots in the loss.
The Pics fell to IHC 3 - 2 on Wednesday afternoon after a late goal from Tamas Toth.
Trystan Swiger scored for IHC just past the halfway point of the first period, but the Pics struck back with just under 4 minutes left in the 2nd period when Alexei Filimonov broke down the wing on a two on one. Filimonov attempted to pass to the breaking winger on the opposite side, but the puck deflected off an IHC defender and went in top stick side to tie the game up at 1 a piece. Aaron Cholewa and Joe Bouchard were credited with the assists.
Philippe Hebert made it 2 - 1 halfway through the 3rd period, but Conner Dalton got the game tying goal just a minute later when he got the pass from Corey McNally off a wrap around attempt. Dalton one timed it into the back of the net. Andrii Ievtukhov was credited with the secondary assist.
Landry Laird stopped 42 out of 45 shots in the loss.
The Premier Pics skated out of the Winter Showcase with a final record of 3 – 1, only dropping their first game to the Fort Wayne Spacemen 7 – 2. Matthew Tullo and Brock Baumann were the only two players who scored. Tyler Wilson, Connor O’Brien, Nicholas Rodrigues, and Andrii Ievtukhov all had assists in the matchup. Pics goaltender Nick Digiacomo was credited with the loss, while Ben Zaranek stopped 23 out of 25 shots he faced.
The Pics then went undefeated the rest of the showcase, defeating the Steele County Blades 5 – 0, the Midwest Blackbirds 6 – 1, and the Las Vegas T-Birds 5 – 1. Dominick Balboni and Tyler Wilson each had a goal and assist. Carter Brunelle, Benjamin Goring, and Connor O’Brien each had goals in the contest against Steele County, while Sean Donoghue, Aaron Cholewa, Matthew Tullo, Corey McNally, Shu Inamura, Brock Baumann, Felix Appelt, and Andrii Ievtukhov all had assists. Landry Laird stopped all 21 shots he faced. In the Blackbirds contest, both Brock Baumann and Alexi Filmonov each had a goal and two assists, while Dominick Balboni had a goal and an assist. Connor Matthews, Nicholas Rodrigues, and Andrii Levtukhov each had goals. Sean Donoghue, Luc Fricchione, Mike Wilson, Carter Brunelle, Aaron Cholewa, Corey McNally and Joe Bouchard all had assists. Jacob Brown stopped 16 out of 17 shots. For the T-Birds contest, Sean Donoghue and Connor Matthews each had a goal and an assist. Connor O’Brien, Coleson Hanrahan, and Nicholas Rodrigues each had goals. Sean Roach, Tyler Wilson, Matthew Tullo, Brock Baumann, Alexi Filimonov and Andrii Levtukhov all had assists.
