It was a back and forth battle on Monday, but the Islanders skated away victorious in the shootout 4 - 3.
The Islanders got on the board first scoring twice through a period and a quarter, but Julian Perino, skating on the Elite squad, struck first when he was able to drag it away from the board and cross ice to between the faceoff dots and was able to put the puck top shelf far corner to make it 2 - 1. Paud O'Brien and Dominick Balboni were credited with the assists.
Sean Ferus was able to tip the puck in, unbeknownst to the remainder of the players on the ice to bring the Pics within one. Aaron Champagne and Brigham Dubey were credited with the assists.
Perino was able to tie the game up when he grabbed the puck and brought it down the near edge and banged it in off the pipe. Sean Ferus and Dominick Balboni were credited with the assists.
The Pics were able to score once in the shootout, but the Islanders scored twice ending the come back attempt by the Pics.
