It took an extra frame, but the U15 squad swept the Islanders over the weekend, taking the final game 2 - 1 with Russel Soja getting the winning goal with just over a minute remaining. The Islanders opened up the game with a goal at the 11:26 mark of the 1st period on an unassisted goal from Patel. The Pics answered back a period later on the power play with a goal from Jack Welch. Chase Stebbins was credited with the assist. Soja then got the game winning goal when Chase Stebbins faked the wrap around attempt and passed it back to Soja who was sitting at the post to deposit the goal in the net. The Pics got outshot 44 to 43, but were perfect on their power play. The Pics converted on only one of their five power plays. The next home game is September 25th at 6pm U16 The U16 crew defeated the Central Connecticut Capitals 7 - 0 on Sunday night. Aiden Pisano put the Pics on the board with just over 7 minutes to go in the first, with assists from Johnny Blase and Chris Calvanese. Coleson Hanaran added to the frenzy just three minutes later to make it 2 - 0 while on the power play. Aiden Pisano and Aiden Barbee were credited with the assists. Ben Gisonni got a power play goal as well making it 3 - 0 at the half way point of the 2nd period with an assist from Pisano. Chris Calvanese got his first of the game with just 24 seconds remaining in the 2nd with a feed from Hanaran to make it 4 - 0. Luke Haynes got his first goal as a Pic just under two minutes into the 3rd period with an assist from Igor Shaev to make it 5 - 0. Devin Niles got his first goal as a Pic to make it 6 - 0 just a minute later with assists from Cam Raifstanger and Hunter Stockseth. Igor Shaev got his first as a Pic with just under two minutes remaining to close the scoring out at 7 - 0. The next home game is September 26th at 3:30pm. |
