The Pics were looking for a strong start against the Bandits and stole one from them as they skated away victorious 4 – 2 on Friday afternoon.
Connor Matthews started off the game with a goal early on when Carter Brunelle intercepted a pass and tried bringing it up the ice, but Matthews was able to corral the loose puck and beat Bandits goaltender Joe Hughes to make it 1 – 0. Aaron Cholewa was credited with the other assist.
The Bandits evened up the game three minutes later with a goal from Chris Cordeiro.
The Pics put in the loan goal in the 2nd period when Joe Bouchard got the goal in right off a face off. Bouchard got the loose puck and put it through the clear shooting lane to make it 2 – 1. Sean Donoghue and Tyler Wilson were credited with the assists.
Jake Lavoie got a goal for the Bandits to even the score up at 2 each in the latter half of the 3rd period, but the Pics were able to get the eventual game winning goal when Cholewa was able to redirect a Luc Fricchione pass. Brock Baumann was credited with the secondary assist.
Matthew Tullo got the insurance goal just over a minute later when the puck hit Wilson due to a clearing attempt. Tullo found the loose puck right in front of the mouth of the goal with nobody but the goaltender to beat and one timed the puck for the goal. Connor O’Brien was credited with the secondary assist.
