The Rockets took off to a quick lead after one period, but the Pics caused a flameout and won 5 – 3 taking game three of the showcase. Nick Jervas and Max Toomey both scored goals in the first period, but the Pics struck back with three in a row of their own in the 2nd period. Tyler Genovese got the loose puck back in the defensive end and tossed it down in a clear attempt while on the penalty kill. Simon Higgins was able to get the puck and got a one-on-one chance with the defensemen and shot it at Rockets goaltender Nicolas Lagomarsino. Lagomarsino couldn’t get complete hold of the puck and it came out to Higgins who dished it out to Genovese who was able to beat a prone Lagomarsino. Nick Disanti tied up the game just under three minutes later when he caught the loose puck and deposited it top shelf off a set plan from a faceoff. Zack Fox and Brandon Shuman were credited with the assists. Fox got one of his own just 40 seconds later when he got the cross ice pass and beat two chasing defensemen on his right hand side and deposited it behind Lagomarsino on a cross net shot. Chris Foster and Kevin Avery were credited with the assists. Jervas got an unassisted goal to tie up the game at 3 a piece at the 17:25 mark of the 2nd period. Disanti got what would end up being the game winning goal in the waining minutes of the 2nd period when he got his own rebound and dragged it across the mouth of the net to get a better angle to make it 4 – 3. Fox and Foster were credited with assists. Foster got the empty net goal with just 26 seconds remaining to seal the game at 5 – 3. Lagomarsino stopped 26 out of 30 shots in the loss, while Pics goaltender Colin Sherwood stopped 18 out of 21 shots for the win.
