The Pics scored twice in the 1st, but the Islanders might have been down but not out as it took until overtime for the Pics to defeat the Islanders 5 - 4 on top of a Dominick Balboni overtime goal.
Aaron Champagne opened up the scoring just under 6 minutes into the opening frame when he got a feed from Connor Cognac. Dominick Balboni added to his team leading 20 assists with the secondary assist while on the power play. Eli Boyle got a short handed goal just about 10 minutes later. Connor Cognac and Bryce St. Martin got the assists. The Islanders returned the two in a row with two in a row of their own in the 2nd period. Liam Byrne and Cognac each scored a goal of their own in the 2nd period, with Cognac, Balboni, Paud O'Brien, and Bryce St. Martin all got assists. The Islanders got two more in the 3rd to tie it up, with the tying goal in the waining minute while on the shorthand. Dominick Balboni got the game winning goal at just about the half way point in the overtime period when he dragged the puck in front of the goal, getting the goaltender to commit the opposite way.
