Rebound control was the name of the game as Max Moriarty made his re-debut with the Pics for this season against the Advantage, and he did it in style netting the hat trick, plus an assist to a 5 - 3 victory on Friday afternoon. Max Moriarty got the first goal of the game early on as he shoved in the rebound from point blank range from Timofey Basarab. Basarab originally skated down the ice for a one on one against the goaltender but was stopped and the puck went wide. The Pics then brought the puck around the horn and Brock Baumann was able to dish it off to Basarab who took the shot, but was stopped. Moriarty then shoved in the puck after a couple close in rebounds. Timofey Basarab was able to knock in the rebound from an Oliver Cookson shot to make it 2- 0. Cookson shot the puck from point blank range from about four feet in front of dead center of the goaltender. Basarab was able to knock it in after a couple attempted. Matt Pelletier was credited with the secondary assist. The Advantage were able to put one on the board in the first 3rd of the 2nd period, but the Pics struck back just under a minute later when Max Moriarty shoved in the rebound as there was a near repeat of the 1st goal. Timofey Basarab and Brock Baumann were credited with the assists. The Advantage brought it within one goal as they scored twice in the 3rd period, but Max Moriarty completed his hat trick as he put in the crashing give-and-go goal as he was skating up and Timofey Basarab dished it off to him for the one timer. Matthew Tullo was credited with the secondary assist. Timofey Basarab got the insurance goal with just under 6 minutes remaining in regulation as he got the rebound off the Max Moriarty shot. The puck took an odd hop off of the goaltender and Basarab was able to capitalize the opportunity. Brock Baumann took the initial faceoff and won it, and he got the puck to Moriarty. Wyatt Friedlander stopped 24 out of 27 shots for the win.
