The Springfield Pics are proud to announce the commitment of Kyle Nelson to Western New England University. Nelson, a native of Haddam, CT, has played with the Pics for four seasons. He has scored 11 times and has 36 assists. He has also made an appearance at the NCDC affiliate of the Pics, the Twin City Thunder.
“I’m honored to have the privilege to play college hockey next year. I appreciate all the support and opportunities my family has helped provide me with to achieve my goal of playing at the collegiate level. The time I have spent with the Pics organization has been an amazing experience; I’d like to thank Coach Bonneau and Coach Collins for helping develop me into the player I am today. I’m proud to commit for the next four years at Western New England University to continue my academic and athletic career.” Nelson was quoted when asked about his commitment to the Western New England University Bears. Kyle’s U16 Head Coach, John Sarno was quoted saying “Kyle is an extraordinarily strong skater who is reliable in the defensive zone and does whatever it takes to help the team win. It was a pleasure coaching him at the u16 level, and watching him progress every season in the Pics organization Pics General Manager and Premier Head Coach Rob Bonneau was quoted, “I wanted to thank Kyle for the last 4 seasons as member of the Springfield Pics, one at the u16 level, one at u18 level, and the last two seasons of Premier. It was a tremendous privilege to watch Kyle grow throughout his years with the Pics. He does all the little things that never show on the stat sheet but are important to a hockey team. I look forward to watch Kyle the next 4 seasons at WNEU, and on plus side will not have to go too far to watch him play as they play out of the Olympia Ice Center, our home rink. We wish Kyle and his family the best in the future.” |
