The Pics and the Bandits battled back and forth, but it was the Pics that skated out victorious 6 - 5 against the Bandits, and stole one again from them, spoiling Bandits player Ben Baxter's hat trick.
The Bandits started out with scoring a goal half way through the first period with a goal from Ben Baxter. Teagan Stringfellow got the assist. Xavier Erickson got his first goal of the season for the Pics as they struck back with just 29 seconds remaining in the 1st period when got the outlet pass from Matt Kennedy and "lock, loaded, and fired" it from just beyond the blue line and got it past Josh Chausse. Aiden Grabowski was credited with the secondary assist. Aiden Grabowski made it 2 - 1 just three minutes into the 2nd period when he deflected a shot from Aiden Konigsberg as Konigsberg shot it from the blue line. Matt Kennedy was credited with the secondary assist. Alex Speckhart made it 3 - 1 just 7 minutes later when he grabbed the loose puck at the face off dot and was able to bring it in himself as he slipped it past Chausse. Koingsberg and Ryan Girard were credited with the assists. Ben Baxter from the Bruins put one more on the board just 4 minutes later with an assist from Brian Dale. Sean Ferus was able to convert on the power play when he was able to ring the inner portion of the pipe when he lined up for a slapshot unchallenged. Dominick Balboni and Matt Kennedy were both credited with the assists. The Bruins were then able to rebound with three unanswered goals, with two of them from Ben Baxter granting him the hat trick. It was Bryce St. Martin though who was able to spoil him getting credited with the game winning goal with just 13 seconds left to play as the Pics pulled the goaltender for the extra attacker. St. Martin was able to get a shot in from nearly the same position as Erickson, and was able to tie it up at 5 a piece. It was Paud O'Brien again with the overtime winner as he made an initial shot that rebounded around to Dominick Balboni, who passed it right on back to O'Brien. O'Brien then took a near 0 angle shot and it rebounded off Bandits goaltender Will Hanly, who was only in net for the overtime period, but got rung up for the loss. Zach Shupe got credited with the secondary assist. Elijah Rapaport and Garret Woodruff split the time in net, with Rapaport stopping 19 out of 21 shots in the first half, while Woodruff stopping 9 out of 12 shots for the win. |
