Elite squad fall to IHC in the shootout Monday afternoon

The Elite squad fell to IHC Monday afternoon 3 - 2 in the shootout.

Chernik was able to put the puck between the legs of Islander goaltender Austin Gilbert when it bounced off one of the leg pads and into the back of the net. Felix Appelt and Dom Balboni were credited with the assists.

The Islanders got a goal with just under 2 minutes remaining in the first to even up the score.

Paud O'Brien brought the Pics ahead by one just 5 minutes into the 3rd period when he was able to pop the water bottle from battle in the neutral zone and he was able to bring the puck up just past the blue line and deposited it into the back of the net. Appelt and Chernik were credited with the assists.

The Islanders evened up the score a minute later to make it 2 - 2.

Neither team scored again until the shootout, in which Dom Balboni was the only Pic that converted on his attempt, but two Islanders converted to give them the win.

Elijah Rapaport stopped 39 out of 41 shots for the loss.
