Springfield PICS are proud to announce that forward Jacob Carey (’05) of Christchurch, New Zealand, has committed to the American International College Men’s Hockey Program (NCAA Division II).
Carey captained his national team to a gold medal at the 2023 U18 World Championship (Division III B) and was a key contributor to the 2025 Springfield PICS Premier team’s run to the National Championship Final. Internationally, he has represented New Zealand at the World Juniors in 2023 and 2024, including a 2024 World Junior Championship appearance. When asked about his commitment, Carey shared: “I am immensely grateful for Coach Tabb and his belief in me by recruiting me to AIC. I would also like to thank Coach Bonneau for giving me the opportunity to represent the PICS over the past two seasons. The lessons learned and the environment I stepped into have been pivotal in my growth as both a player and a person. I look forward to representing AIC in the coming years and continuing the legacy and values of the PICS organization.” Springfield PICS GM and Head Coach Rob Bonneau added: “Jacob has been a leader from the moment I picked him up at the bus station. He is extremely focused, driven, and committed to improving every day. He plays in all situations, has scored some big goals for us, but his greatest strength is his ability to bring the team together. He’s the kind of player everyone wants to be on the ice with. I wish Jacob and his family nothing but the best and look forward to continuing to watch him compete at AIC — right here in the same building.” |
