PICS NEWS

Mario Bernard

3/25/2026

Springfield PICS are proud to announce that forward Mario Bernard (’06) of Prior Lake, Minnesota, has committed to the Beloit College Men’s Hockey Program (NCAA Division III) in Wisconsin.
A big moment for the Springfield PICS as Mario Bernard is a second‑generation PICS, carrying on the history, pride, and edge of this program.  Before joining us, Bernard Captained Prior Lake High School in Minnesota--26 points in 26 games and the heartbeat of that locker room.  Then he showed up in October and went straight to work. No shortcuts. No excuses. Just a relentless motor and team mentality. In his first NCDC season, Mario dressed for 50 games, proving he was ready for the grind physically and mentally. He put up 26 points (8 goals, 18 assists) and earned every one of them.  A true team‑first guy with a blue‑collar work ethic, Mario fit perfectly into Coach Bonneau’s identity--hard, honest, competitive hockey.  The Bernard legacy continues, and the PICS are proud to have been part of his journey.
When asked about his commitment, Mario shared:
That he loved getting to know the players and appreciates the time Coach Bonneau and Coach Beaudoin put in to help develop him as a player. “Coach Bonneau gave me a chance and believed that I could make a difference with the Pics. I will never forget that.”
Mario would like to thank his parents, family and friends for their continued support.
Springfield PICS GM and Head Coach Rob Bonneau added:
Mario is a second‑generation Springfield Pics player, following in the footsteps of his father Jeff, who played for Gary Dineen. Mario joined us in October and immediately put in the work, climbing the depth chart and earning heavy minutes every night. He played in all situations—power play, penalty kill, and everything in between—and proved himself to be a complete, reliable player.
Earning a solid D3 spot in the WIAC after just one year of juniors is no small feat, and it speaks to his commitment and growth. Beloit is getting a full‑package player and an even better teammate.
We wish Mario the best of luck over the next four years. Our locker room and our mentality on the ice won’t be the same without him.

Troy Huber

Springfield PICS are proud to announce that Goalie Troy Huber (’05) of Framingham, Massachusetts has committed to the Franklin Pierce College Men’s Hockey Program (NCAA Division II).
Troy joined the PICS three years ago at the Premier level and quickly became the backbone of our 2025 National Championship run. Over 71 appearances, he posted an elite .932 save percentage and a 2.10 GAA — numbers that speak for themselves.
He was even better when it mattered most. In 11 postseason games, Troy went 9–2 and backstopped the team all the way to the National Championship Final. A true competitor and a cornerstone of our success.
When asked about his commitment, Huber shared:  Playing for the Pics helped me find my love of hockey again. The straightforward and no excuse attitude of the team pushed me to battle at my best everyday. Bonneau and the rest of the coaching staff always pushed me to be better and helped me be the best version of myself on and off the ice. My goal now is to take all that I have learned here and spread it wherever I go. Thank you Springfield Pics, these have been the best three years I could have asked for.
Springfield PICS GM and Head Coach Rob Bonneau added:
Troy has been the backstop for the last 3 seasons.  Came in as a third goalie but battled his way up to be the number one by end of season before season ending injury.  When he was healthy he led us to the National championship runner ups.  Was a major part in that run.  This season battled injuries again but when he was healthy at the end of season he was again our number 1 goalie we needed.  We wish Troy all the best in his next 4 seasons at Franklin Pierce.  They are getting someone who is going to battle every day.

Ryan Diffley

Springfield PICS are proud to announce that Defender Ryan Diffley (’05) of Old Saybrook, Connecticut, has committed to Babson College Men’s Hockey (NCAA Division III).
Diffley joined the Springfield PICS after a strong career at Deerfield Academy, where he captained the team and earned the reputation of being “Mr. Dependable.”  Ryan became a major presence on the blue line for our NCDC squad, eventually drawing attention from playoff‑bound clubs across the league. His skating, poise, and ability to generate offense from the back end made him exactly the kind of defenseman coaches look for.  At the trade deadline, that impact was impossible to ignore. In 29 games with the PICS, Ryan posted 7 goals and 11 assists — production that helped fuel a playoff push and earned him well‑deserved interest around the league.
When asked about his commitment, Diffley shared:
“I’m super grateful for my time with the Pics. Coach Bonneau and Beaudoin gave me a chance as an age out, and they helped me adjust to the junior game quickly. While my time with the pics was short, I am so appreciative of the entire coaching staff for teaching me valuable lessons both on and off the ice, and I’m so glad I got to build friendships along the way. I’m very excited to attend Babson next year and play hockey, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the Pics organization.”
Springfield PICS GM and Head Coach Rob Bonneau added:
Ryan is a first year player who was the all time games played at Deerfield which is very impressive.  Ryan from day one adjusted to junior hockey and was able to get better each day until about mid October when he became our number one D-man.  His game really took off in December when he had 3 game winning or game tying goals.  When it became evident we were going to miss the playoffs we gave Ryan a chance to experience a playoff run in Junior hockey.  We wish Ryan the best at Babson next 4 seasons

James Delaney

Springfield PICS are proud to announce that forward James Delaney (’05) of Palmer, Massachusetts has committed to the American International College Men’s Hockey Program (NCAA Division II).
Delaney is a true AGE OUT of the Springfield PICS having played at every level the program offers from U15, U16, Elite, Premier and NCDC.  James has worn the iconic PICS sweater in over 233 games over that time period.  Primarily as a defender, James was also called on to play a big role as a defensive forward in the National Championship run in 2025.  A total of 33 goals and 67 assists puts him at the 100 point  mark as well.  A true testament of vertical development within a club from Midgets to Juniors to NCAA hockey.
When asked about his commitment, Delaney shared:
This is an exciting moment for me, and I’m grateful for everyone who helped me get here. I wouldn’t be in this position without coaches who believed in me from the start—Coach Pat Moriarty and Coach Doug Hanscom at the Rifles set the foundation for my development and pushed me to grow as both a player and a person.
I then spent seven years with the Springfield Pics program, surrounded by amazing coaches. Coach Vern, Coach Chris, and Coach Bono all played major roles in shaping my game, and I’m thankful for everything they invested in me. I also want to thank Coach Tabb for having the confidence in me to take this next step and giving me the opportunity to play for the Yellow Jackets.
A bonus in all of this is getting to play with some incredible current and former teammates, and doing it at a rink I’ve called home most my life. It feels like things have come full circle, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.
Springfield PICS GM and Head Coach Rob Bonneau added:
James committing to AIC is bittersweet; it marks the end of an era for him as a Springfield Pic. When you watch a player grow up in the program, it feels like watching your own kid, and these were seven very important years in a young man’s life.  James played at every level the Springfield Pics offer, and it was great to see him earn his commitment to AIC. I wish him nothing but the best and look forward to watching him play at AIC.

Cal Fielder

Springfield PICS are proud to announce that forward Cal Fielder (’05) of Scottsdale, Arizona, has committed to Lebanon Valley College Men’s Hockey Program (NCAA Division III).  After a couple of successful seasons at the New England Prep Level, and the CCHL Cal finished his Junior Hockey career with the Springfield PICS NCDC squad and wore the iconic PICS sweater in 53 games.  Cal was a consistent piece of the offense this season where he lit the lamp 12 times and had 24 assists.
When asked about his commitment, Cal shared:
I’m excited to announce my commitment to Lebanon Valley College. I’m incredibly thankful for Coach Parsons’ belief in me and for the opportunity to play hockey at the collegiate level. I would like to thank everyone who has supported me throughout my journey — my coaches, teammates, and especially my family. I’m looking forward to my next chapter at LVC, both on the ice and in the classroom.

I would also like to thank Coach Bonneau and the Springfield Pics organization for making this season feel like home. During my time with the Pics, I’ve grown not only as a hockey player, but as a person. The organization has done a tremendous job preparing me for the next step in my hockey career.
Springfield PICS GM and Head Coach Rob Bonneau added:
Cal came to us this season in his age out season.  Cal is a player who plays above his size, almost all season Cal was the smallest player on the ice but had the biggest heart and determination which is what Coach Parsons saw in Cal. Lebanon Valley is getting a player who is ready to contribute on day one.  I am looking forward to watching the next 4 seasons for Cal as he will be very missed by the Springfield Pics.
