Elite squad shut out the Wolfpack 10-0

The Springfield Pics Elite Squad defeated the Hartford Junior Wolfpack 10-0 on Saturday, February 9th.

Bob Taylor opened up the scoring frenzy at the 8:28 mark of the 1st. Taylor and Chris Brandon broke down the ice after a turnover in the defensive end. Brandon broke down the right hand side and Taylor down center. Brandon threw a pass over to Taylor while Apflebaum was focused on Brandon and Taylor put his stick down and defected it into the open side.

Padriac O’Brien got the second goal later on in the 1st period. Mike Palermo grabbed an open puck and dished it to O’Brien who went a short distance down the ice and took a shot from the glove side dot and got it past Apflebaum.

O’Brien got his second goal shortly into the power play with under a minute to go in the 1st period. After a few close shots he grabbed the loose rebound and put it past Apflebaum glove side.

Blanchard got the fourth goal of the game with four minutes remaining in the 2nd period on the 4-4 after a rebound from and shot from O’Brien and it got behind Apflebaum and he finished the job.

Bob Taylor was able to get the 5th goal of the game off a play off a faceoff which got around Apflebaum.

Cole Lemay took a dribbler of a shot and Andrew Wheeler grabbed the goal when the puck took an odd angle rebound.

Andrew Wheeler got the 7th goal in via a rebound off a shot from Cole Lemay who was fed from Jackson Martin

Cam Pelkey got the 8th goal when he got the pass from the forechecker, which caused a loose puck. A Pic’s player picked it picked up and passed it to Pelkey, who took the one timer

Roderick Shubrick got the 9th goal when he received the pass from Gavin Rock. Apflebaum was screened didn’t see the pass and the puck was put in behind him.

Mike Palermo got it in off the rebound off by a slapshot from Aaron Blanchard that was fed from a defensemen.

Pics goaltender Zack Kopp got 20 wins in the shutout. Apflebaum got 31 saves in the loss.
