The Springfield Jr. Pics Premier team defeated the Boston Junior Bruins 5-2 on Saturday night on the back of Gene Bouthiette.
The scoring started early on in the game with a breakaway goal from Gene Bouthiette. He was brought down in the last part of his drive to the goal but got the puck in the net. Mike Wilson and Noe Turdjmann got credited with the assists.
Gene Bouthiette lit the lamp the second time of the night at the 13:43 mark of the 2nd period through a scrum in front of the net. Wilson and Turdimann helped with this goal as well.
Wilson got his first of the night at the 9:26 mark of the second. Bouthiette got credited with the assist.
The Bruins got their first goal of the night after a penalty from Gene Bouthiette sent him to the box for tripping. Peter Nugent took advantage of Pratt being without his stick and was able to put it in back of the net after his teammates put many shots on net. The puck came his way and he potted it in the back of the net. Tyler Reynolds and Adam Romano were credited with the assists.
Action heated up in the 3rd period. Ethan Cervonayco got ejected after a spearing call, and Bryce Chaput made them pay with the only remaining goal from the Bruins. Rowan Barnes and EJ Miller got credited with the assists.
The Pics then put the game away with two goals, each on power plays.
Mike Wilson pulled a fake out routine on the 5-3 and made Greg Iverson look the other way and he put the puck in from the high point of the face off circle on his stick side. Josh Miller and Gene Bouthiette got credited with the assists.
Noe Turdjmann got the goal on the 5-4 power play. Josh Miller and Gene Bouthiette got the assists.
Trent Pratt had 45 saves in the win, and Greg Iverson of the Bruins got 36 saves in the loss.
These two teams meet again tomorrow in Marlboro.
