CICERO, New York—The Springfield Pics 18U team defeated the Syracuse Stars 2-0 thanks to strong goaltending and three two-point performances on Saturday, October 21.

The Pics dominated the first two frames of their matchup in Syracuse, generating a 21-13 shot advantage, but had nothing to show for it.

However, in the third, that changed quickly. On an early power play thanks to a slashing call, Alan Meyer lit the lamp at 1:46 with assists by Noah Hemenway and Zack Magyar.

Less than thirty seconds later, the trio was at it again, with Hemenway scoring from Magyar and Meyer at 2:13 to open a 2-0 lead.

That was all the Pics needed; thanks to 22 saves by Shane Conciatore, the 18U team improved to 1-1-0 in USPHL play.

The two teams will battle again on Sunday, October 22 at 9:30 a.m. at the Cicero Twin Rinks.
