Winter Showcase Day 1 review

Premier goes 2-0, Elite goes 1-1

The Premier squad goes 2-0 on Friday, while the Elite squad goes 1-1.

PREMIER

The Pics defeated the Atlanta Mad Hatters 5-0 on Friday morning.

The Pics struck first at the 9:02 mark of the 1st from Max Moriarty (12).  Josh Bliss (17) and Lukas Radina (22) were credited with the assists on the power-play goal. 

At the 10:08 mark of the 1st Josh Bliss (9) got one of his own. Cam Pelky (3) and Joe Bouchard (4) got credit for the assists.   

Then at the 14:12 mark of the same period, Brock Baumann (6) put one in the back of the net. Chase Reynolds (16)and Lukas Radina (23) got the assists.

18:53 into the 1st, Brenden Meyer (2) then struck next. Max Moriarty (17) and Julian Perino (15) got the assists.

4:11 into the 3rd period was when the final goal was scored courtesy of Owen Stacey (6). Joe Bouchard (5) and Brock Baumann (14) got the assists.

Matthew Jonas stopped all 14 shots he faced, while Mason Rush stopped 8 out of 12 for the loss, and Dominik Vollenweider stopped 17 out of 18 in the no-decision.

In afternoon action, it was a closer score. The Pics prevailed against the Minnesota Blue Ox in overtime, 3-2.

 Action started in the 1st period at the 14:24 mark when Julian Perino (16) scored.  Max Moriarty (17) and Brenden Meyer (5) were credited with the assists.

The Blue Ox struck back in the 2nd period at the 15:05 mark. Kyle Kester (14) put one in the back of the net. Nick Mueller (27) and Nick Spolec (15) got the assists.  

Zach Earl (9) put the Blue Ox ahead at the 19:38 mark of the 2nd period. Abay Mangisbayev (14) and Hunter Hansen (15) were credited with the assists.

Lukas Radina (17) got the game evened up for the Pics at the 11:37 mark in the 3rd. Max Moriarty (18) and Cam Gaylor (10) were credited with the assists.

Brock Baumann (7) put the Pics up for good in the extra frame at the 2:49 mark. Matthew Kowal (9) and Josh Bliss (19) were credited with the assists.

Adam Faust stopped 21 out of 23 shots for the win, while Ethan Haglund stopped 19 out of 22 for the loss.

ELITE

Four unanswered goals were the key to victory for the Potomac Patriots as they defeated the Pics 4-3 in overtime. 

Rihards Purgailis (5) opened up the scoring at the 6:57 mark of the 1st during a power-play. Carter Brunelle (10), and Ryan Moorhouse (3) were credited with the assists.

Carter Brunelle (12) got one of his own at the 9:15 mark of the 1st as well. Rihards Purgailis (14) and Ryan Moorhouse (4) were credited with the assists.

Aleksis Burkits (8) got the last goal for the Pics’ while on the short-hand at the 11:25 mark of the 1st.       

The Patriots then went on the offensive in the 3rd period, after neither team scoring in the 2nd.                

Chase Caravella (3) got his first of two goals while on the power-play at the 8:27 mark.  Fisher Hall (5) and Anthony Adams (2) were credited with the assists.           

Chase Caravella (4) then scored again at the 15:20 mark of the 3rd. Fisher Hall (6) got credited with the lone assist.

Wil Cundy (7) tied it up for the Patriots just under a minute later. Fisher Hall (7) and Scott Samples (2) were credited with the assists.               

Fisher Hall (1) won it for the Patriots at the 2:20 mark of overtime. Alexander Thomas (5) was credited with the assist. Cameron Schnopp stopped 32 shots for the loss, while Griffin Knarr stopped 32 for the win.

The Pics defeated the Atlanta Mad Hatters 4-2 on Friday afternoon, with almost every kind of goal was scored, short of an empty net goal.                    

Derek Boutin (4) opened up the scoring in the 2nd period when he got one past Konrad Fransson. Adam Lindahl (3) and Noah Palmer (9)      were credited with the assists.

Gavin Rock (7) scored on a penalty shot after he was brought down on a breakaway at the 18:21 mark.

Adam Lindahl (10) scored just over 20 seconds later. Derek Boutin (16), and Paud O'Brien (9) were credited with the assists. 

Daniel Crawford (5) put the Mad Hatters on the board at the 12:07 mark of the 3rd. Tillman Washington (5) was credited with the lone assist.     

Noah Palmer (3) then returned the favor just two minutes later while the Pics were on the penalty-kill. Connor O'Brien (21) was credited with the assist.             

Daniel Crawford (6) tried to make it closer, but it was with one second left in the game. Lleyton Poole (13), and Dawson Hendrick (7) were credited with the assists.

Elijah Rapaport was credited with the win, stopping 27 out of 29 shots, while a no-decision was handed out to Konrad Fransson (who stopped 22 out of 24 shots) and Ben Alwardt (who stopped 10 out of 12 shots).
