Pics Elite squad split in weekend action

The Elite squad split the weekend action, losing to the Boston Bandits 5-2 in a close battle on Saturday, and defeated the Boston Junior Bruins 5-3 on Sunday.

Saturday

Carter Brunelle opened up the game with a goal a little over two minutes into the contest when he stuffed it in past goaltender Joshua Chausse off a failed clear attempt. Gavin Rock was credited with the assist.

John Hurd evened it up for the Bandits 41 seconds into the 2nd period when Schnopp came out to play the shot and it rebounded right to Hurd who put it in the back of the net. Robert Byrne and Lazarus Ritter were credited with the assists.

Paud O’Brien put the Pics ahead not even 20 seconds later that squeaked by Chausse, which caused him to be exchanged for Chris McElroy after only stopping 4 shots out of 6. Derek Boutin was credited with the assist.

Lazarus Ritter tied it up again midway through the 2nd period when he got one past Schnopp. Robert Byrne and John Hurd were credited with the assists.

Jaxson Brown got the game-winning goal for the Bandits with 6:52 remaining of the 2nd when he put in a rebound from a shot off of Hunter Voyles. Brandon Troyer was credited with the secondary assist.

Adam Mazurowski got the insurance goal with 14:50 left remaining in regulation. John Hurd was credited with the assist.

Adam Charbonneau got the final goal of the game with 4:38 remaining. Dylan Hernandez-Ramirez and Brandon Troyer were credited with the assists.

Cameron Schnopp stopped 30 out of 35 shots in the loss, and Chris McEloy was credited with the win, as he went a perfect 10 for 10.

Sunday

The Pics were able to snap their losing streak with the help of the Boston Junior Bruins.

Cam Pelky opened up the scoring when he caught a pass from Derek Boutin who was behind the net looking for an open player and he popped the water bottle just 2:45 into the game. Hunter Dodds was credited with the secondary assist.

Daniel Rau tied it up for the Bruins while on the power play 7:25 into the first. Braden Malliet was credited with the assist.

Andrew Gilbert put the B’s in the lead at the 14:21 mark into the 1st off a pass from Jonathan Swift.

Paud O’Brien tied it up when Browning thought he stopped it, but the puck had enough of a spin on it that it lofted up a little and went into the back of the net. Pics newcomer Jordan Bechtold notched his first assist, while Aleksis Burkits was credited with the secondary assist.

Carter Brunelle put the Pics up by one 6:18 into the second period when he was able to pop the water bottle off a slap shot that was straight into the net. Ryan Moorhouse and Connor O’Brien were credited with the assists.

Baxter Cardamone was able to tie it up for the B’s 6 minutes later. Tyler Sadak was credited with the lone assist.

Cam Pelky was able to put the Pics up for good with 3:55 left remaining in the 2nd when he was able to stuff the puck in amongst many players. Noah Palmer and Louis Pelland were credited with the assist.

Austin Kareta was able to get the insurance goal with under 2 minutes to go from a slap shot from just ahead of the blue line. Connor O’Brien and Derek Boutin were credited with the assists.

Layne Browning was credited with stopping 42 out of 47 for the Bruins in the loss, while Sam Zavelson was credited with the win, stopping 37 out of 40 shots.
