Premier squad sweeps in weekend action

Radina continues scoring streak

The Premier squad swept this weekend’s action.

On Saturday, the Nighthawks were defeated 6-1.

Quinn Sandor opened up the game with a goal at 3:27 into the 1st period that defeated Pics goaltender Matthew Jonas glove side off a no-look shot when he was leading through a screen to put it behind the net. Matt Loftus and Bryan Guetens were credited with the assist.

Josh Bliss got the goal back a little over 10 minutes later at the 5:23 mark remaining of the 1st when he took a slap shot from between the faceoff dot in the offensive zone and the blue line. Matthew Kowal and Brock Baumann were credited with the assists.

Lukas Radina got what would be the game-winning goal at 1:21 remaining of the 1st from a near zero-angle shot that was highlight-reel worthy that slipped behind Maximillion-Aiden Kettner. Max Moriarty and Julian Perino were credited with the assists.

Radina got the insurance goal on the power play with 5:37 remaining of the 2nd off a defection that surprised Kettner. Cam Gaylor and Josh Bliss were credited with the assist.

Ethan Bliss got the Pics’ 4th goal of the night with 15:07 remaining in the 3rd off a failed clear attempt. Devids Jurineokj and Dom Ingham were credited with the assists.

Cam Gaylor then notched his name into the goal column on the scoresheet with 2:46 remaining in regulation when he received the puck from Matthew Kowal from around the net by Brock Baumann.

Matthew Gerst finished the scoring frenzy with just 4 seconds remaining of the 3rd when he lined up a slapshot from straight on the goal. Julian Perino and Nico Rodrigues were credited with the assists.

Maximillion-Aiden Kettner saved 40 shots out of 46 for the loss, and Matthew Jonas stopped 27 our of 28 shots for the win.

On Sunday the Pics defeated the CT Junior Rangers 3-2 in morning action.

Chris Morrison opened up the back and forth scoring at the 2:46 mark of the 1st while on the power play. Egor Khomyakov and Cooper Board were credited with the assists.

Julian Perino notched the first goal of the game for the Pics off a 2-2 with a toe drag shot off a feed from Lukas Radina who was going down the left-hand side of the ice who made a cross-ice pass to Perino. Devid Jurineokj was credited with the secondary assist.

Lukas Radina got the Pics’ second goal of the game with 7:52 remaining of the 2nd when he skated around his defenders and beat Jack Walsh stick side. Julian Perino and Max Moriarty were credited with the assists.

Victor Nikonov evened up the game with just under 3 minutes left on an unassisted goal.

Josh Bliss got the game-winning goal on a buzzer-beating, power-play goal when he went one-on-one with the goaltender on a breakaway. Brock Baumann and Noe Turdjmann were credited with the assists.

Jack Walsh got 38 our of 41 shots for the loss, and Adam Faust was credited with 29 our of 31 goals for the win.
