Elite squad wins in the shootout

The Springfield Pics Elite squad had to go the distance, and then some, to defeat the Boston Bandits on Saturday night. The Pics had to go to the shootout, in which they scored on two successful attempted in succession, and the Bandits missed both attempts.

The Pics opened up the game with a quick goal, 13 seconds into the game from Aleksis Burkits. Andrii Yevtukhov and Connor O’Brien got the assists.

Adam Lindahl then notched the second goal of the period just four minutes later. Andrii Yevtukhov and Sean Ferus got the assists.

The Bandits got the lone goal of the second period just three minutes into the frame. CJ Still was credited with the goal, with Dylan Leblanc got the lone assist.

Boston then scored twice in the third frame grabbing the lead for the first time in the game. Hunter Voyles got the score on the power play. Teagan Stringfellow got the lone assist. Dylan Desilva got the second goal of the third period.

Noah Palmer tied the game up on the power play with just under four minutes remaining in regulation. 

It took a shootout to finish the matchup, with the Pics scoring twice in the shootout. Aleksis Burkits and Rihards Purgailis got the two goals necessary in the shooutout. Robert Byrne and Lazarus Ritter could not get a goal past Cameron Schnopp.

The Elite squad will face the Northern Cyclones in the HockeyTV Elite game of the week. Eric Richardson will provide the call at 3:30 pm.
