Game!

The 98 Pics defeated Assabet
Valley today 4-1 to advance to Sunday's Championship
where they face the New Hampshire Avalanche. This team's
story is an inspiration to hockey players everywhere
as their incredible journey took them from last place
to the final two by rallying as a team and believing
in themselves. This group of kids typifies what it
means to be a TEAM. Unselfish play, strong defense,
offensive creativity and a passion for the game are
just a few of the great traits that are attributed
to this group.
The semifinal game was a classic. Strong play in the
defensive and neutral zone set the pace. Offensively
the goals were scored by Conner
Little (Guilford, VT),
Preston Kozub (Agawam, MA), Jude
Bonavita (Longmeadow,
MA) and Erik Hosmer (Westfield, MA). In addition, Owen
Mastroianni's (Palmer, MA) goaltending was outstanding.
Coach Ashe had this to say about the team's performance: "I've
been involved with youth hockey for over seven years
and I can honestly say that this season has been the
most rewarding experience I've ever had in hockey.
These boys have taught us all a lot about what it means
to be winners. Their commitment to hard work and doing
the little things right has put them in this position.
It's been one heck of a ride for all of us!"
Congratulations 98's and good luck.
