Springfield
Junior Pics Move
into Their New Digs

As many of our families are aware, the Springfield Jr. Pics,a privately owned
and locally operated MBHL hockey franchise has undergone management realignment.
With these operational changes and in keeping with economic realities, our association
has examined its current and former contractual arrangement, These examinations
and our prior year experiences have prompted a switch to a new home base and
hockey rink, the Fitzpatrick Skating Arena in Holyoke, Massachusetts.
A
five-year service agreement with FMC and the Pics has been
executed to secure ice sheet predictability for our 2004-2005
practice and game dates, From an economic and time management
perspective, this venue change form the Olympia will guarantee
our status as the prime tenant in Fitzpatrick. Simply stated,
the Jr. Pics prefer to be secure as prime tenant rather
than one of the several private or public hockey organizations
jockeying from August through April for ice time contracts.
Our fine association with the Olympia and its ownership
will continue as the Jr. Pics franchise intends to host
future tournaments and hockey schools at the West Springfield
facility.
Additionally,
FMC has begun discussions with us about their future renovations
to Fitzpatrick. Cosmetic improvements and new bleachers
have been installed. New boards are scheduled for installation
in the following season. Capital improvement plans also
foresee new locker rooms and conference facilities. for
the 2004-2005 season, the Springfield Jr. Pics will have
unfettered access to the existing conference room for team
parties and meetings. The FMC affiliation, the renovation
plans, and the future possibilities for the Springfield
Jr. Pics in Holyoke is encouraging. |
