We
will hold two 12-week sessions per year. Following the learn
to skate session, an instructional hockey session will
begin. If your child is to participate in
the "Learn to Play Hockey" session, they will
need the appropriate hockey equipment:
USA Hockey approved helmet
Shoulder pads
Hockey pants
Hockey gloves
Elbow pads
Shin guards
Neck guard
Hockey stick
"Learn
to Skate/Learn to Play Hockey" Rules:
Each skater must have a USA Hockey approved helmet with a
mask.
Elbow pads and kneepads are recommend. Hint* (Have your skater
wear these items under their clothing so it will not be slippery
while they try to get up off the ice.)
Each child should have some type of gloves for their
hands as the ice surface is cold on their little fingers.
Parents should keep out of the players' benches. Children
will get tired and need a rest. The on-ice staff will try
to keep them focused, but if they see Mom or Dad in the bench
area they might lose their thoughts of skating. Please stay
in the stands.
Brand new
skates may be uncomfortable for a first time skater for the
first few times. Consider trying a pair of used skates before
making an investment.
Keep your child's skates sharpened, especially if they are
brand new. When sharpening the skates let the skate shop
know it is for Learn to Skate.
Please do not drop off your child and leave the rink.
